HELP ASAP What is the length of BD? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.
melomori [17]

Answer:

4.99 units

Step-by-step explanation:

Considering ∆ABD in the figure given, <ABD = <ABC = 90° (angle on a straight line)

Therefore, we would consider ∆ABD as a right angled triangle having side AB = 3 units, and angle D = 31°

==>Use trigonometric function to solve for the length of side BD

Side BD is the adjacent side to the angle given, while side AB is the opposite side to the angle given.

Thus,

tan D = opposite/adjacent

tan 31 = 3/BD

0.6009 = 3/BD

multiply both sides by BD

0.6009*BD = 3

Divide both sides by 0.6009 to make BD the subject of formula

BD = 3/0.6009

BD ≈ 4.99 units

How does a transformation affect the graph of f(x) if it is changed to:
tankabanditka [31]
If you add a value to the outcome of the function (as in case a), you will just shift the graph up along the y-axis. Makes sense, right, since you're adding an extra 2 to the value you will plot on the y axis.

If you subtract (in this example) a value to the input of the function, you're actually "looking back" into the past of the graph (i.e., the left side). For example, for x=4 you're now plotting the value that used to be at x=1. So this shifts the graph to the right.

That may be confusing at first. But I hope with a little thought experiment, you get it.

What are they asking me?
morpeh [17]
Basically, they're asking you to find the slope of the given line, as well as finding how far apart each points are from one another, horizontally and vertically.

Remember, horizontal goes this way (------) and vertical goes this way  (I)
                                                                                                                            (I)
                                                                                                                            (I)
a)  Horizontal distance : -2
Vertical distance : 3

b)  Slope :

Remember, slope is rise over run.

So, rise = vertical distance, and run = horizontal distance.

So, our slope is : -3/2

~Hope I helped!~
