If the lines have different signs for their slopes, that means that in one equation, as x increases, y decreases. And in the second equation, as  increases, y decreases. They will both have the same y intercept however, because they both pass through the origin.
Hope this helps.

Well, since one has a negative rate of change, and one positive, they would form an X through the graph. That could or could not mean they have equal slopes. We also know that their y intercepts would be 0, since they pass through that.

tom determines the system of equations below has two solutions, one of which is located at the vertex of the parabola. equation
stiks02 [169]
( x -3 )² = y - 4
y = ( x - 3 )² + 4
One solution is located at the vertex: ( 3, 4 ).
y = - x + b
4 = - 3 + b
b = 7
( x - 3 )² = - x + 7 - 4
x² - 6 x + 9 = - x + 3
x² - 5 x + 6 = 0
x² - 2 x - 3 x + 6 = 0
x ( x - 2 ) - 3 ( x - 2 ) = 0
( x - 2 ) ( x - 3 ) = 0
x 1 = 2,  x 2 = 3
y 1 = 5,  y 2 = 4.
In order for this solution to be reasonable, the 2nd equation must be:
y = - x + 7

the probability of picking rotten apple in a box is 1/100 .if there are 6 boxes containing 1200 apples each how many rotten appl
bulgar [2K]
<h3>Answer:</h3>

\huge{\boxed{72}}

<h3>Explanation:</h3>

First, find the total number of apples.  6*1200=7200

Now, multiply this by the probability of picking a rotten apple, which is \frac{1}{100}.  This is also the same as dividing by 100, or moving the decimal point two places to the left.  7200*\frac{1}{100}=72

This means that based on the probability given, 72 rotten apples will be picked.
