Further Explanation

The Birmingham church bombing happened on Sunday morning, on September 15, 1963, in Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, Birmingham, Alabama. Most of the church's members were African-American and this church also served as a regular meeting place for civil rights leaders.

As a result of this bombing, four young girls were killed and many other people injured. Soon after the bombing, many protesters gathered around at the scene and violence broke out across the city which killed two more African-American boys.

Martin Luther King, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), one of the leaders of the civil right movement sent a letter describing the violence that African-American faced. This letter is known as "A letter from Birmingham Jail." Birmingham was one of America’s most racially discriminatory and segregated cities. Before this bombing, many bombings have happened in Birmingham.

An important result of this incident was increased support to end the segregation and discrimination that helps lead to the passage of both the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

What did the Georgia Platform include? Check all that apply.
kondaur [170]

Answer:

Drawn up by Charles J. Jenkins and adopted by a state convention on Dec. 10, 1850, at Milledgeville, the Georgia Platform consisted of a set of resolutions accepting the Compromise of 1850. It was not an endorsement of the compromise, but it said that Georgia would abide by the compromise provisions “as a permanent adjustment of the sectional controversy.”

The Georgia Platform warned that the state would and should resist any future congressional activity disrupting the interstate slave trade, weakening the fugitive slave laws, or abolishing slavery in the District of Columbia. Such activity could well prompt a dissolution of the Union, according to the Georgia Platform.
