Your answer is...Shooting stars are actually have NOTHING TO DO WITH STARS! They are caused the tiny pieces of dust and rock that are called meteoroids that are falling at such a high speed into the Earth's atmosphere and burning up.

The burning sediments from the meteoroids are blown off the rock to create the trail that we see resembling a 'shooting star'
