The main idea that Patrick Henry brought to the first continental congress was that all the individual colonies should think of themselves as "one unit" instead of separate entities, since this would allow them to be stronger.

Answer: On December 1, 1774, the Continental Association was formed to blacklist all connection with British products. By modifying the financial penalties set on the colonists, the members expected Britain would abolish its Offensive Acts.

Partick Henry brought the concept that all of the colonies should assume of themselves as one whole America and not separate areas. Under this plan, all bills of Parliament would have to be signed by an American association to take effect.

What was wrong with the urban machine from the progressive point of view? We're we better off with it than without it?
Aliun [14]
Problems associated with the "urban machine" were that they were undemocratic and were corrupt. They moved the political system to allow candidates to win based upon vote-buying, coercion, and other corrupt methods. They were therefore effective or ineffective depending on the relationship you had with the machine and also whether or not you wanted to see a democratic system or not.

A number of events and uprisings in the 1980 are led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. USSR's leader, Gorbachev, had a policy of openness a called Glasnost. Havel was the leader and became first president of the new Czechoslovakia. Next in 1989, the Berlin Wall was opened and people could travel back and forth, and later Germany was reunited into one democratic not communist country. Last, in the Soviet Union, the failed August Coup in 1991 led to the end of the Communist party in USSR. All of these events led to the end of communism and the making of a democratic Russia.
