What did Spanish Protestants and Spanish Jewish converts to Christianity have in common during the Counter-Reformation?
Ray Of Light [21]

During his reign as the King of Spain from 1556 to 1598, Philip II was known as a consummated champion of Roman Catholic Counter-Reformation, up to the point that he was perceived as putting the church's interest above those of Spain. With the Spanish Inquisition still in full motion and the full support of the monarch, the Spanish Catholic Church and the government prosecuted and deported a vast majority of the Jewish Conversos (Converts from Judaism), Moriscos (Converts from Islam) and Protestants that were living within the boundaries of the Spanish empire soil.

Considering these facts, the correct answer is C) Both were persecuted by the Spanish government.

Who or what was responsible for the end of communism in Europe?
gavmur [86]
United States. After the Berlin Wall was knocked down in 1989 (which was a barrier between West and East Germany), everything began to change for communist east Europe. The USSR (Soviet Union) communist regime collapsed. This was due in part to the U.S. policy of containment (containing communism in a certain country/area), while encouraging democratic reforms to eastern europe. This gave support to the East and hope that they would be free from communist rule, which they were in 1989.
