So,

The chart tells us that the people that registered for soccer is 45.
The chart also tells us that the people that registered for basketball is 35.

45 - 35 = 10

10 more people registered for soccer than for basketball.

A new car has factory installed tires that are P205/60R16. The owner wants to a little bigger and opts for the set of P215/75R15
xenn [34]

Answer:

The car is actually moving at a speed more than 80 miles per hour

Step-by-step explanation:

Theoretically, since the speedometer of the car is at 80, it means the car is having a speed of 80 miles / hr. The car should move by a distance of 80 miles in an hour.

But, practically changing the tire size can affect the speedometer accuracy because larger tire covers more ground in each complete revolution. So, the  actual speed is higher than the speedometer reads.

<u>Example</u>

Suppose a car comes with factory-installed tires which are 21.8 inches in diameter. It means that the circumference of each tire is 68.5 inches. Now if we replace the old tires with new tires having 24.6 inches as diameter then  each new tire has a circumference of 77.3 inches. This means the car  travels almost 10 inches more with each complete revolution. This can  tremendously affect the reading on the speedometer. The speedometer  will now indicate a speed which is too slow by almost 13%. When the  speedometer reads 60 miles/hour, the car will actually be traveling at a speed of 67.7 miles/hour.

Determine if the described set is a subspace. Assume a, b, and c are real numbers. The subset of R3 consisting of vectors of the
Arte-miy333 [17]

This question is incomplete, the complete question is;

Determine if the described set is a subspace. Assume a, b, and c are real numbers.

The subset of R³ consisting of vectors of the form \left[\begin{array}{ccc}a\\b\\c\end{array}\right] , where abc = 0

  • The set is a subspace
  • The set is not a subspace

Answer:

Therefore; The set is not a subspace

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the data the question;

the subset R³;

S = {  \left[\begin{array}{ccc}a\\b\\c\end{array}\right] , where abc = 0 }

we know that a subset of R³ is a subspace if it stratifies the following properties;

  1. it contains additive identity
  2. it is closed under addition
  3. it is closed under scales multiplication

Looking at the properties, we can say that it is not a subspace

As;

         u = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}1\\1\\0\end{array}\right] ∈ S       and v = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}0\\1\\1\end{array}\right]  ∈ S

As    1×1×0=0                          0×1×1=0

But   u+v = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}1+0\\1+1\\0+1\end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}1\\2\\1\end{array}\right]  ∉  S     as 1×2×1 ≠ 0

Hence, it is not closed under addition.

Therefore; The set is not a subspace

Solve for X: -3 |2x+6| = -12
Kobotan [32]
Hello there!

-3| 2x + 6| = -12
2x + 6 = -12/-3
2x + 6 = 4
Solve absolute value
We know that 2x + 6 = 4 or 2x + 6 = -4
We have two possibilities to solve this.

1)
2x + 6 = 4
2x = 4 - 6
2x = -2
Divide both sides by -2
2x/-2 = -2/-2
x = 1

2)
2x + 6 = -4
2x = -4 - 6
2x = -10
Divide both sides by 2
2x/2 = -10/2
x = -5

Answer : X = -1 or X = -5

A+ Guaranteed!
