A student wrote four statements during math class. Which statement contains an error? If Iesha traveled at an average speed of 3

8 miles per hour for 18 hours, she traveled 684 miles. If Jason traveled at an average speed of 46 miles per hour for 16 hours, he traveled 736 miles. If Charmaine traveled at an average speed of 54 miles per hour for 14 hours, she traveled 766 miles. If Raphael traveled at an average speed of 68 miles per hour for 12 hours, he traveled 816 miles.

The third statement contains error. All of the other ones are correct. If Charamaine's speed 54mph, for 14 hours, her distance should be 756 miles, not 766 miles. The question only had a multiplication error, the rest have been double checked. I checked using a scientific calculator, this answer should be right. Hope this helps in a way, and have a nice day!

I need help ASAP help me answer questions and then I put a picture up
olya-2409 [2.1K]

Answer:

(-4,9)

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve the system of equations, you want to be able to cancel out one of the variables. In this case, it'd be easiest to cancel out the x variables. To do this, you'll want to multiply everything in the first equation by 2 (2(x-5y=-49)=2x-10y=-98). Then, you can add the two equations together. 2x and -2x will cancel out, so you'll be left with -11y=-99. Next, solve for x by dividing both sides of the equation by -11, which will give you y=9. This is your y-coordinate! At this point, you're halfway to the answer as you just need your x-coordinate. It's not too difficult to find the x-coordinate, since you just substitute 9 into one of the equations. It doesn't matter which one you choose as you should get the same answer with both. I usually substitute the y-value into both equations, though, just to make sure I'm correct. Once you put the y-value into the equations, you should get x=-4 after solving it. :)

(03.01 LC)<br><br> What is the length of leg y of the right triangle? (1 point)
EastWind [94]

Answer:

<h2>A</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

The complete question is

What is the length of leg y of the right triangle?

A right triangle with hypotenuse 26 and legs 24 and y

  • 10
  • 14
  • 24
  • 26

We need to use the Pythagorean Theorem, where h=26 and x=24,

h^{2} =x^{2} +y^{2}\\ 26^{2}=24^{2}+y^{2}\\y=\sqrt{26^{2}-24^{2}}\\ y=\sqrt{676-576}\\ y=\sqrt{100}\\ y=10

Therefore, the right answer is A. The length of the missing leg is 10 units.

Solve the equation
inysia [295]

Answer:

x ≈ 1.32, x ≈ - 5.32

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

x² + 4x - 7 = 0 ( add 7 to both sides )

x² + 4x = 7

To complete the square

add ( half the coefficient of the x- term )² to both sides

x² + 2(2)x + 4 = 7 + 4

(x + 2)² = 11 ( take the square root of both sides )

x + 2 = ± \sqrt11} ( subtract 2 from both sides )

x = - 2 ± \sqrt{11}

Thus

x = - 2 - \sqrt{11} ≈ - 5.32 ( to 2 dec. places )

x = - 2 + \sqrt{11} ≈ 1.32 ( to 2 dec. places )
