Social contract theory or community agreement theory assumes that the state is formed based on community agreements in the social traditions of society.
The "Boston Tea Party" was one of the roles of the American Colony in achieving independence from Britain.

Further Explanation

Social Contract Theory

According to Hobbes, human life is separated in two epochs, namely the state as long as there is no state, or natural state (naturalist status, state of nature), and the state after being there. For Hobbes, the natural state is by no means a safe and prosperous state, but on the contrary, the natural state is a chaotic social state, without law, without government, and without social ties between individuals within it.
In social contract theory, the community surrenders some or all of their rights to the government and or other authorities in order to continue to follow the social order and improve the quality of life. Agreements contained in social contracts can be either explicit (formal) or implicit (based on experience).

America's role in independence against Britain

- The struggle of the United States (US) to free itself from Britain since 1765 finally came to fruition on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which established US separation as a British colony.
- One of them is the Patriots militant group in Massachusetts who designed the "Boston Tea Party" movement. The movement was marked by the disposal of British tea worth GBP18 thousand into the sea from the Port of Boston.
- Parliament who was angry with the movement and some destruction of British property passed the Anti-Coercive Act or also known as the Intolerance Act, in 1774.
- The colonies then responded to the law by asking the Continental Congress to consider a united America as resistance against Britain.
- However, the British Parliament is still reluctant to negotiate with American rebels. Instead of negotiating, the parliament actually bought weapons from Germany to help crush the rebels.
- In the spring of 1776 support for independence was rife throughout the colony.
- The Declaration of Independence was largely done by Thomas Jefferson of Virginia. In order to strengthen independence, Jefferson quoted the words of political philosopher John Locke, as well as other British experts.
