It's a picture of children/family wearing gas masks during WW2. I know because the picture is black and white so it's not recent, and chemical warfare was used during the second world war. The photographer conveys emotions of fear and unity. The children are very young but have to wear masks in order to survive. This similar to the corona virus nowadays, and people are scared now too, just as they were back then. Also, the children look united because they are holding hands and being together.
