Armenia was the first christian nation in the world. It has been christian since the year 301 AD. Christianity in Armenia is unified around the national church: the Armenian Apostolic Church, to which over 90 percent of armenias belong.
Hatred for chrsitianity has caused great suffering to the Armenian People. For example, during the Ottoman Era, many Armenians lived in Anatolia. When the Ottoman Empire fall, and the Turkish Nation became the landholders of Anatolia, many Armenians died because they were christians, in an event known as the Armenian Genocide, which Turkey refuses to recognize to this day.
