Conservation efforts were made during the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt.  He is also called the conservationist president. Conservation was his main concerns and when he became president in 1901, he created United States Forests Service to protect wildlife and public lands. He established 150 national forests, 4 national game preserves, 5 national parks, 51 federal bird reserves. 18 national monuments was also created by 1906 American antiquities Act. It was due to such steps taken by the government that natural, wildlife and historic treasures could be preserved.
