Find the value or values of x in the quadratic equation:

Mathematics
1 answer:
kvasek [131]3 years ago
3 0

Answer:

x = 3 twice

Step-by-step explanation:

x^2 = 6x - 9

Rewrite by subtracting 6x from both sides and add 9 to both sides.

x² - 6x + 9 = 0

Factorise by finding factor of +9 that add up to -6

These factors are -3 and -3  that is

-3 -3 = -6  and -3×-3 = 9

Rewrite equation

x² - 3x - 3x + 9 = 0

x ( x-3) -3(x -3) = 0

Therefore

(x -3)(x-3) = 0

x - 3 = 0 or x - 3 = 0

x = 3 or x = 3

x = 3 twice
