In 1959 the Dave Brubeck Quartet - with Paul Desmond on alto saxophone - revolutionised the jazz world with <em>Time out, </em>an outstanding album of daring compositions and time measure experiments such as Take 5 in a 5/4 (3 & 2) swing format. This is the only Desmond tune and the most famous one on this album. But it also includes  a 9/8 rhythm that shifts to a 4/4 swing beat and a marvellous 14/4 rhythm piece divided into 3,3,4,4.
