The area of a rectangle is L * W where L is the length and W is the width
Hence it follows that L * B = 234
But Length, L, = 18
So we have 18 * W = 234
 So W = 234/18 = 13
Hence the width of the room is 13 feet

By definition the area of a rectangle is:
 A = l * w
 Where,
 l: long
 w: width
 So we have to clear the width:
 w = A / l
 Substituting the values:
 w = (234) / (18) = 13
 w = 13 feets
 answer
 the width, in feet, of the room is 13
