There are different stages of development that every hunter must pass through to gain experience and acquire special skills and the five stages of hunter development include:

  • Shooting Stage
  • Limiting-Out Stage
  • Trophy Stage
  • Method Stage
  • Sportsman Stage

The shooting stage is very crucial to hunters as it entails when it is proper for a hunter to shoot. This stage involves a series of target practices. However, hunters are most likely to move to another stage if they undergo proper mentoring at the shooting stage.

Limiting-Out Stage: The limiting-out stage mentors hunters on how to avoid unsafe shots. Also being in the company of mature hunters can people acquire the necessary skills and grow out of this phase quickly.

Trophy Stage: at the trophy stage, the hunter is selective and the success of the game is based on quality and not quantity.

Method Stage: the hunting process is the main focus at this stage and it entails how it can be achieved.

Sportsman Stage: this is the appreciation stage, where success is determined by the overall hunter’s experience. Most hunters in this stage also mentor others.

Therefore, the focus during the first stage is the process of the Hunt.
