Mariah spent $9.50 on 9 pounds of limes and pears. Limes cost $0.50 per pound and pears cost $1.50 per pound. Let l be the numbe

r of pounds of limes and let p be the number of pounds of pears. The system of linear equations that models this scenario is: l + p = 9 0.5l + 1.5p = 9.5 How many pounds of each type of fruit did she buy? She bought pounds of limes and pounds of pears.

Answer:

Mariah bought 4 pounds of lime ans 5 pounds of pears.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let l be the number of pounds of limes.

Let p be the number of pounds of pears.

Mariah spent $9.50 on 9 pounds of limes and pears.

l+p=9 or l=9-p    .....(1)

Limes cost $0.50 per pound and pears cost $1.50 per pound.

0.5l+1.5p=9.50    ....(2)

Putting l-9-p in (2)

0.5(9-p)+1.5p=9.50

4.5-0.5p+1.5p=9.50

1p=5

So, p = 5

And l=9-p

l=9-5=4

l= 4

So, Mariah bought 4 pounds of lime ans 5 pounds of pears.

Answer:

A) rate of change would be dividing the number of songs wanted (150) by the number of weeks downloading (5)

150/5 = 30

 since the total quantity wanted is becoming less every week the rate of change would be negative so it becomes -30

Initial value is 150, which is the total number of songs they want

             B) rate of change would be dividing the number of songs wanted (150) by the number of weeks downloading (5)

150/5 = 30

 since the total quantity wanted is becoming less every week the rate of change would be negative so it becomes -30

Mr. Smith is flying his single-engine plane at an altitude of 2400 feet. He sees a cornfield at an angle of depression of 30º. W
Svet_ta [14]

Answer:

Height of the fighter plane =1.5km=1500 m

Speed of the fighter plane, v=720km/h=200 m/s

Let be the angle with the vertical so that the shell hits the plane. The situation is shown in the given figure.

Muzzle velocity of the gun, u=600 m/s

Time taken by the shell to hit the plane =t

Horizontal distance travelled by the shell =u

x

t

Distance travelled by the plane =vt

The shell hits the plane. Hence, these two distances must be equal.

u

x

t=vt

u Sin θ=v

Sin θ=v/u

=200/600=1/3=0.33

θ=Sin

(0.33)=19.50

In order to avoid being hit by the shell, the pilot must fly the plane at an altitude (H) higher than the maximum height achieved by the shell for any angle of launch.

H

max

=u
