Frank and Gertrude mow lawns for extra money over the summer. Frank's income is determined by f(x) = 5x + 15, where x is the num

ber of hours. Gertrude's income is g(x) = 4x + 20. If Frank and Gertrude were to combine their efforts, their income would be h(x) = f(x) + g(x). Create the new function h(x). If Frank works 4 hours and Gertrude works 4 hours, and if they each get half of the money when they work together, will Frank make more money working alone or by teaming with Gertrude?

H(x)=5x+15+4x+20

if x=4, together it would be 5(4)+15+4(4)+20
h(x)=20+15+16+20=71
Divided by 2, they'd each get 35.5

If Frank worked alone, he'd get 5(4)+15= 35
He'd make more working together.

What conjecture can you make about the sum of the first 22 positive even numbers?
alekssr [168]

Answer:

A.) The sum of the product of the number of terms and the number of terms plus one.

Step-by-step explanation:

So, we have the sum of the first 22 positive even numbers:

S = 2 + 4+ 6 + ... + 44

We know the sum of such sequence is given by the (sum of the first number (2) and the last number (44)) multiplied by the number of terms (11).

S = (2 + 44) * 11 = 46 * 11 = 506

Answer A tells us it should be the sum of the number of terms (22) by the number of terms plus one (22 + 1 = 23).

S = 22 * 23 = 506

That's confirmed.

Answer B would give 22 * 21 = 462, so it's not right

Answer C would give 22 * 2 = 44, obviously not right

Answer D would give 22 * 22 = 484, close but not right.

X = 116

Step-by-step explanation:

Total heptagon angle = 900

An airline charges one fee for small luggage bags, and a larger fee for large luggage bags. One family checks five small bags an
RUDIKE [14]
X=small bag
y=large bag

5x+3y=260
4x+2y=200

(5x+3y=260)*4 =20x+12y=1040
(4x+2y=200)*5 =20x+10y=1000

subtract two equations: 2y=40
divide:                           y=20
plug y in                         5x+3*20=260
simplify                         x=40

small bag=$40
large bag=$20
