We know:
You have $750 to spend.
A limo costs $700.
They charge $0.15 per mile.

Since we want both sides to balance out, we simply put the solution (how much we have to spend) on one side of the equation, and then the rest on the other side as shown here:

$750 (balance) = $700 (how much renting the limo costs) + 0.15x (it's a decimal since it's 15 cents per mile; the x represents however many miles the limo can travel before it reaches the $750 cap (on the left side of the equation))

Basically:
$750 = $700 + $0.15x

Now, if you want to solve how many miles the limo can travel, simply subtract $700 from both sides (subtract it from the $750).
$750 - $700 = $50

The equation should now be $50 = $0.15x
Isolate x (divide $0.15 to both sides) so:
$50 ÷ $0.15 = 333

The limo can travel a maximum of 333 miles.

What are rational numbers? Why is it important to study rational numbers?
xxTIMURxx [149]

Answer:

Any number that can be written as a fraction with integers is called a rational number . For example, 17 and −34 are rational numbers. (Note that there is more than one way to write the same rational number as a ratio of integers. For example, 17 and 214 represent the same rational number.)

5 = 4a - 7<br> 3 - 8c = 35<br> -1/2x -7 = -11<br> Solve this please.
Hitman42 [59]

Answer:

a=3, c=-4, x=8

Step-by-step explanation:

5=4a-7

4a-7=5

4a=5+7

=12

a=12÷4

=3

3-8c=35

-8c=35-3

=32

c=-32÷8

=-4

-1/2x-7=-11

-1/2x=-11+7

=-4

x=4÷1/2

=4/1×2/1

=8

mart [117]

Answer:

157.6m

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Horizontal distance = 181m

Length of the rope =240m

To know how high above Kayla was, we will use the Pythagoras theorem.

According to the theorem;

d² = x²+y²

x is the horizontal distance

y is the vertical distance

d is the length of the rope

Substitute

240² = 181²+y²

y² = 240²-181²

y² = 24839

y = √24839

y = 157.6m

Hence the boat is 157.6m above Kayla
