The answer is Myometrium. Myometrium is a center muscular layer of uterus; constitutes most of uterine wall; and more fibrous near cervix; produces labor contractions, expels fetus) composed mainly of smooth muscle (sweep downward from fundus, spiral around body; less muscular. oxytocin promotes labor by directly stimulating muscles of myometrium; stimulating fetal membranes to produce prostaglandins, which are synergists of oxytocin in producing labor contractions.

Myometrium is the middle layer of the uterine wall which consists of smooth muscle cells and supports stromal tissue and blood vessels.

Further Explanation

Myometrium is a part of the uterus that plays an important role and consists of a lot of muscle tissue. During pregnancy, myometrial muscle fibers become different and their structures are more organized to prepare for performance during delivery.

As the uterus changes during pregnancy, the cervix also changes. The structure of the cervix changes from being stiff to very elastic or soft which can stretch to a diameter of 10cm or more during labor and then return to its original state. During pregnancy, there is an increase in mass, fluid and blood vessels in the cervix.

The uterus or uterus is an important organ in the female reproductive system. The uterus is connected to the cervix, which is connected to the vagina and fallopian tubes. During pregnancy, the entire process of baby's development takes place in the womb.

Humans have simple womb. The entire uterus merges into one organ that functions in the pelvis.

The uterus has two main parts, namely the cervix uteri or "neck" of the uterus and the uterine corpus or uterine body.

The uterus also consists of three layers:

 • Endometrial layer (the innermost layer) that lines the uterine hole and forms layers of blood cells regularly. This layer is released every month as menstrual blood in women who are not pregnant.
 • The second layer of the uterus is the myometrium, which is composed of smooth muscles.
 • The outer uterine lining is called the perimetrium.

In addition to pregnancy and menstruation, the uterus also plays an important role in providing sexual response. When the body receives sexual stimulation, the uterus drains blood to the pelvic area and external genitals.
