English

"The Girl Who Can" and "My English" both reflect on young girls who had to overcome a challenge, and practice something until they could meet a goal. Because of this, these stories share the lesson that with practice and determination, you can do anything you put your mind to.

These stories do differ, however, in that in "The Girl Who Can", the protagonist has to overcome people's ideas of her that they have had since birth. Therefore, this story has its own lesson that one should not let other's opinions of them hold them back.

"My English" also has a second lesson that, sometimes, you have to achieve success in your own way.
