Why would it be impossible? You are being asked to add up several numbers.

(amount Lena saved so far) = (amount Lena saved last week) +(grandma's gift) -(cost of ice cream)

(amount Lena saved so far) = 12.64 + 3*12.64 -3.50 = 47.06


If Lena saves "d" dollars more, her total will be
.. (total saved) = 47.06 +d
