This was the stand taken by Thomas Jefferson against Marshall for denouncing it. Whenever the situation demanded Jefferson rose to the occasion to oppose. Jefferson was a person who believed in giving rights to the states rather than keeping the power centralised. Jefferson was totally opposed to the federal government having huge power.
