In general, it is a good idea to have a lot of foreign policy decisions be steered by human rights concerns. This is really the only way to make sure that foreign polciy is fair and balanced.

I agree that human rights concerns should steer U. S. foreign policy. I believe that the first duty of a state is to ensure that justice is protected and that its citizens are respected and protected. These are the values that should also guide foreign policy. I think that if the United States is committed to protecting human rights, they should not engage in cooperation with countries such as Saudi Arabia, where human rights are constantly violated. This would send a message to the international community that could motivate Saudi Arabia to change its laws.
