The correct answer is C) victory over Spain in the Spanish-American War.

The event that contributed most to the United States being recognized as an international power was the victory over Spain in the Spanish-American War.

The Spanish-American War started in 1898 that originated with the demand for Cuba to gain independence from Spain. The UnitedStates supported Cuba and sent a ship -the USS Maine. to protect its citizens and property of the Island. The Spanish sank the ship and declared war on the US on April 24, 1898.

The United States won the war and signed the Treaty of Paris on December 10, 1898. Spain ceded Puerto Rico and Guam to the US, gave independence to Cuba and left the Philippines.

Ahat [919]
The abolitionists had both theoretical and practical influence on the antislavery attitudes in the North. Their practical influence was seen in organized actions for freeing slaves and helping them escape to Canada. Quakers were often involved in these actions and were willing to risk their lives. What Nebraska politician and Democrat presidential nominee who pushed for a bimetal or silver standard? William Jennings Bryan W
deff fn [24]

Answer: William Jennings Bryan

Explanation:

William Jennings Bryan was a Nebraska politician who was nominated by his party, the Democratic party, to be their Presidential nominee in 1896 after he gave a rousing speech which today is known as the Cross of Gold speech in support of the bimetal/silver standard.

The standard called for the use of both gold and silver to back the American dollar as opposed to using just gold and was strongly supported by the lower and some middle class. The standard however would have brought high inflation as well as making it harder for the US to trade with other countries.

William Jennings lost the election and the US continued with the gold standard.
