After learning about several of the body systems, Jon tells the class that the digestive system and respiratory system have one

function that is similar to each other. Which statement below would best explain his claim? Jon is wrong because the respiratory system works to provide blood to the body, and the digestive system works to provide energy for the cells.
A. Jon is wrong because the respiratory system works to provide blood to the body, and the digestive system works to provide energy for the cells.

B. Jon is wrong because the respiratory system is concerned with oxygen and carbon dioxide, and the digestive system is concerned with nutrients for your body.

C. Jon is correct because the respiratory system aids the body in increased carbon dioxide levels, and the digestive system aids the body in supplying it with appropriate nutrients

D. Jon is correct because the respiratory system removes waste from the body by ridding it of carbon dioxide when we exhale, and the digestive system removes waste from the body in the large intestine where the waste is sent and removed through the rectum.

The correct answer is option D, that is, Jon is correct because the respiratory system removes waste from the body by ridding it of carbon dioxide when we exhale, and the digestive system removes waste from the body in the large intestine where the waste is sent and removed through the rectum.

The respiratory system functions to provide adequate oxygen for the proper functioning of the body and at the same time works to remove the waste products like carbon dioxide via the process of exhalation.

On the other hand, the function of the digestive system is digestion and absorption. It digests the food components into smaller pieces, and helps in the absorption of nutrients from the food, the leftover undigested food, or waste is excreted out through the rectum. Hence, both respiratory and digestive system exhibits one common function of excretion of waste materials.

What is the sequence of events in the transmission of an impulse through the heart muscle?
zimovet [89]
<span>The sequence is as follows:
c, d, a, b, f, g, e

The impulse starts at the SA node that has its own contraction rhythm (but can be faster or slower depending on other impulses or hormones). That impulse travels then through the atria and is slowed down by the atrioventricular septum except for a region in the right atrium called AV node where the impulse has continuity. The impulse travels then to the ventricles through the AV bundle. The impulse continues through bundle branches to other fibers: Purkinje fibers. These Purkinje fibers cause then a contraction that goes from the apex of the heart and rapidly through the ventricles.</span>
