1. Similarities:
they are both processes of cell division by which cells reproduce.
They share several steps of the process(prophase, metaphase, anaphase e telophase, cytokinesis) but meiosis has another division also with those same steps.
In both cases the cell duplicates its DNA by pulling it apart into two sets, place the sets on each end of the cell, and then divide down the middle.

Both produce new cells based on their parent cells' genes.

2. The differences:

Mitosis:

- has 1 division per cycle
- one cell produces 2 new cells
- the genetic information in the mother-cell and the daughter-cells are the same. ( the number of chromosomes is also the same)
- it occurs in somatic cells
Meiosis:
- two divisions per cycle.
- one cell when divides produces 4 new cells
- the new cells have different genetic information. mixes the  the genetic material from the parent cells
- the number of chromosomes of the daughter cells is half of the mother's.

The formation of a new species can result from
gavmur [86]
Evolution, specifically mutation.
Remember Darwin's birds on the Galapagos. Well, those birds are examples of new species coming from an old one.
See, once a group of birds left Ecuador and landed on one of the islands. In order to survive, they mutated to fit the island's lifestyle.
Later, birds from that island migrated to the others, and repeated the process. Soon, there will multiple species of finches, living together. All because of one finch.

So look for mutation or migration in your answer

The semicircular canals of the bony labyrinth are responsible for detecting which type of stimulus?
nasty-shy [4]
The semicircular canals are part of the bony labyrinth found in the inner ear.  It is known for establishing and detecting equilibrium through sensory cells.  This is transmitted to the endolymph by pressure using motion. On the other hand, the cochlea which is also a part of the bony labyrinth detects sound.

Gastrin, histamine, endorphins, serotonin, cholecystokinin, and somatostatin are hormones or paracrines that are released direct
garik1379 [7]

Answer:

The correct answer is option b, that is, enteroendocrine cells.

Explanation:

The specialized cells of the pancreas and the gastrointestinal tract exhibiting endocrine function are termed as enteroendocrine cells. These cells generate gastrointestinal peptides or hormones in response to a distinct kind of stimuli and discharge them into the bloodstream for the systemic effect. These are the most varied endocrine cells found within the body.

The intestinal enteroendocrine cells produce somatostatin, cholecystokinin, motilin, enteroglucagon, and neurotensin hormones. The G cells present within the intestine produce gastrin. In the gastric glands, the gastric enteroendocrine cells are present, which produce histamine, and others like cholecystokinin, alpha and gamma-endorphin, somatostatin, and others.

In the islets of Langerhans, the pancreatic enteroendocrine cells are present, which produce hormones like ghrelin, amylin, somatostatin, and pancreatic polypeptide.
