Delusions or hallucinations with themes that are consistent with the mood state (e.g., guilt, disease or death themes accompanying depression) are known as mood-congruent psychotic features. This is a one of the subtype of a criteria for the severity for Major Depressive Episode for Mood Disorders. Mood-congruent psychotic features are under the severe with psychotic features criterion wherein it is characterized by hallucinations and delusions. The other subtype is called the mood-incongruent where the content of the delusions does not  include the common depressive themes. Symptoms of this type are thought broadcasting, persecutory delusions and thought insertion.
