The sentence written in the active voice is:

Few People think seriously of doing something about accidents. The correct answer is B.

Further Explanation

To determine whether a sentence is an active or passive voice, we should look at the subject of the sentence. We use passive voice when we focus on the action or the verb of the sentence rather than who is doing the action (Subject). On the other hand, the active voice is a sentence that focuses on the Subject.

The general form of active and passive voice as follow:

Active voice: Subject+Verb+Object

Passive voice: Object+Verb+Subject

Here are some examples to change active voice into passive voice:

Present Simple Tense

He writes a letter ---- A letter is written by him.

They sell cookies ----- Cookies are sold by them.

Present Progressive Tense

She is writing a letter ----- A letter is being written by her.

Is she writing a letter? ----- Is a letter being written by her?

Present Perfect Tense

He has completed the project ----- The project has been completed by him.

I have written some stories ----- Some stories have been written by me.

Past Simple Tense

He wrote a letter ----- A letter was written by him.

Did he write a letter? ---- Was a letter written by him?

Past Progressive Tense

She was washing the dishes ---- The dishes were being washed by her.

Was she washing the dishes? ----- Were the dishes being washed by her?

There are two main things to keep in mind when trying to determine whether a sentence is written in the passive voice or if it is written in the active voice. First, passive voice is when the subject has the action done to it, and active voice is when the subject does the action. Second, passive voice will always have linking/helping verbs. That said, answers, “A,” “C,” and “D” have the action being done to the subject, and all three have linking/helping verbs in the form of “are” and “be.” “B” is the only answer where the subject (in this case, “people”) is doing the action of “think” and has not linking/helping verbs.

True or False? W.D. Wetherell’s story “The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant” and Gary Soto’s poem “Oranges” both use first-perso
stich3 [128]

True

First-person point of view is when the narrator is a character within the story. A primary indicator that a written work is in first-person point of view is the use of first-person pronouns: I, me, my, myself. Wetherell's story "The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant" starts off "There was a summer in my life when the only creature that seemed lovelier to me than a largemouth bass was Sheila Mant. I was fourteen." Since this is narration and not dialogue, we know that the narrator is a character within the story. Gary Soto's "Oranges" begins "The first time I walked/With a girl, I was twelve". This narration uses the word "I" which shows that it is in first-person point of view.
