All real numbers except y=-1

Mathematics
1 answer:
Assoli18 [71]3 years ago

The correct answer is all real numbers except y = 1.

There are two ways of finding this. The first way is by looking at the graph for a value which y never equals. If you look, there are no places where either part of the graph hits y = 1.

The second way is by looking at the combined equation.

(fog)(x) = \frac{1}{x} + 1

We know that \frac{1}{x}, no matter what we put in can ever equal 0. Since that is true, we know y can never equal the number for when that equals 0. So plug in 0 and see what the asymptote is.

(fog)(x) = 0 + 1

(fog)(x) = 1

Therefore, y = 1 is the answer.

Kiran scored 223 fewer points in a computer game than Tyler. Kiran scored 409 points. Which equation would Kiran use to determin
LenKa [72]

Answer:

The equation is:

409 = T - 223

And the solution is:

T = 632

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Represent Kiran with K and Tyler with T

Kiran score is represented as:

K = 409

Also, Kiran scored 223 less than Tyler.

This is represented as:

K = T - 223

Substitute 409 for K

409 = T - 223

Make T the subject

T = 409 +223

T = 632

Show your work

7(x-8)=2x-31
victus00 [196]

Answer:

x=5

Step-by-step explanation:

7 (x-8)=2x-31

Distribute the 7 to the x and -8 (basically multiple 7 with the x and -8)

7x-56=2x -31

Drag the 2x over to the other subtracting it from 7x.

7x-2x-56=-31

5x-56=-31

Drag the 56 to the other side and add it to -31

5x= -31+56 (or 56-31)

5x= 25

Divide 5x from 25 to get your X

x=25/5

x=5

Hope this helps!!

Solve for x; y=mx+b I can find x by_______________ on both sides of the equation PLZ Show your Work Thank You
amid [387]

Answer:

"subtracting b, then dividing by m"

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve for a particular variable, look a the operations that are being performed on that variable. Then "undo" those operations in reverse order.

Here, the operations done to x are ...

• multiply by m

• add b to the product

Using the above recipe, first we "undo" the additon of b. We accomplish that by subtracting b from both sides of the equation. This gives ...

y - b = mx + b - b

y - b = mx . . . . . . . . . simplify

Next, we "undo" the multiplicatin by m. We accomplish that by dividing both sides of the equation by m.

(y -b)/m = mx/m

(y -b)/m = x . . . . . . . . simplify

This is your solution for x:

x = (y - b)/m

We found it by subtracting b, then dividing by m on both sides of the equation.
