What crimes does Montesinos say the Spanish have committed
Karo-lina-s [1.5K]

Answer:

Antonio de Montesinos or Antonio Montesino (c. 1475 - June 27, 1540) was a Spanish Dominican friar who was a missionary on the island of Hispaniola (now the Dominican Republic and Haiti). With the backing of Friar Pedro de Córdoba and his Dominican community at Santo Domingo, Montesinos was the first European to publicly denounce the enslavement and harsh treatment of the indigenous peoples of the island. His censure initiated an enduring struggle to reform the Spanish conduct towards all indigenous people in the New World. Montesinos' outspoken criticism influenced Bartolomé de las Casas to head the humane treatment of Indians movement.

Why do veterans of Iwo Jima always refer to the soft black sand of iwo
nydimaria [60]

Answer:

The soft black sand is called 'uzura seki' in Japanese, is regarded as consecrated soil, imbued with the blood of about 21,000 Japanese servicemen who perished in the six week long 1945 battle.

Explanation:

The battle of Iwo Jima happened during the World War II between the United States and Japan. The Island of Iwo Jima was a strategic location that the United States used for fighter planes and bombers to land and take off when attacking Japan. The sand of Iwo Jima was the first obstacles that the armies faced. They faced 15-foot-high slopes of soft black volcanic ash.

The American army were bogged down in the soft black volcanic ash of Iwo Jima and this helped the Japanese.

Why did the Germans need to defeat France as quickly as<br> possible in 19142
attashe74 [19]

Answer:

The German nightmare was a war on two fronts. Historically, Russia needed time to ‘mobilize’, that is, to call up reservists, equip them, and assign them to their regiments and platoons. So the logical way of operating was to attack and defeat the French first, before attacking the Russians. But in 1914 the Russians cheated; they mobilised before they announced it so their army was in the field quite a long time before the Germans expected it — and the dreaded war on two fronts materialised. The Germans were lucky in that their effective commander Ludendorff (who was technically 2ic) moved his troops about by train, so they were not already exhausted by a long and hurried march and were able to throw the Russians back into complete confusion and surrender.

So the Russians were defeated but not mortally injured, the French came close to defeat but just managed to stabilise a front, and the ‘despicable English Army’ saved itself from disaster by the narrowest Of margins.

Four years of continuous bloody slaughter were assured.
