Answer:

The answer is E.

Explanation:

The lining of the digestive tract starts from the mouth and continues until the anus, covering it with mucosa that forms a protective layer against various things that could cause problems.

The digestive tract contains a lot of acid which has a very low pH level, it also contains a lot of digestive enzymes that can digest proteins in our tissues as well. Mechanical stress especially in our stomach can put a lot of pressure on the tissues and the lining of mucosa helps prevent that by decreasing it's effect. The lining also prevents pathogens that make their way into our digestive system through food to affect our stomach and colon by forming a protective layer between the environment and the tissues.

I hope this answer helps.

When neurons are not producing electrical signals
balu736 [363]

When neurons are not producing electrical signals we say that they are at resting phase: voltage across their membrane is called the resting membrane potential, or the resting potential.

This potential is determined by the concentration of ions (Na, K) across the membrane and by membrane permeability to each type of ion. While the ions move through channels down their gradients they lead to a separation of charge and that is what creates the resting potential.

The membrane of the neuron is much more permeable for K ions so the resting potential is close to the equilibrium potential of K+.
