The history of the Catholic church begins with Jesus and his teachings. The Catholic Church is a continuation of the early christian community. Christianity spread throughout the early Roman Empire, despite persecutions due to conflicts with the pagan state religion. Prior to and during the 16th century, the Church engaged in a process of reform and renewal. 

Just a question, but since the Catholic church split into multiple churches during history, is there a church in specific you'd like the history on?
