The Korean War, Truman assigned General McArthur as the leader of the United Nations troops. Truman wanted to restore peace in North Korea and south Korea asap, On April 11th 1951, U.S. President Harry S. Truman relieved General of the Army Douglas MacArthur of his commands after MacArthur made public statements which contradicted the administration policies. Truman didn't want the Chinese to want to join the war in any way. Douglas MacArthur oversaw the successful allied occupation of postwar japan and led UN forces in the Korean war. MacArthur wanted to use American air power to attack the peoples republic of china.
