Narrative history is writing history as a story that focuses on the chronological order of history.
There are several reasons why It is useful for historians to craft historical narrative.
1. The event in time can be better understood.
2. The key roles and relevant features can be easily point out.
3. The actions can be easily described.And why those rather than other actions were taken.
4. What causal processes(social or natural) may have played a role in bringing the world to the outcome of interest?
I'd say this is Social.
The writer is making a plea to Pathos by giving an emotional and self relative thought to the present thought around the subject during the time.
Can't be political. It's not between elected parties or people of power talking, judging or being elected.
not economic. it's not talking about present state of supplies selling goods trades etc.
C. It lead to a costly arms race.
The west African Kingdom of Mali grew in wealth and power by controlling the trading of gold and salt.
As for material wise, the English realized that the American Colonies could provide a stable stream of funds that relied on the production, refining, and sale of many different supplies and crops. Such examples would be Tobacco, Sugar (not 100% on this one), and Cotton (later on). Other products that could be produced in the Americas were whale oil and seafood. As for influence, the English noticed that they could claim large parts of Unclaimed (and sometimes claimed, which they woukd fight for) North America such as parts of Canada and almost the entire East Coats in order to spread the influence of the Crown further throughout the world. It was also a power struggle fight between Britain, France, and Spain, which was another reason for the colonies.
