When Atticus says that Mr. Cunningham is basically a good man, even though he has blind spots like everyone else, he isn't speaking literally. He means that Mr. Cunningham is a kind man overall, but, just like everyone, is imperfect, often misjudging situations out of ignorance. For example, in this time (though is not an excuse whatsoever) there were many lynchings and extreme racism. At night, Mr. Cunningham approached the jailhouse where Atticus kept watch. Mr. Cunningham was part of a racist mob coming to attack Tom, while Atticus stayed nearby for the possibility of exactly that happening. Of course, Scout was watching, and when she saw the men, she leaped out of hiding. The men told Atticus he had 15 seconds to get her to leave, but Scout being how she was, kept talking. She treated them will kindness in spite of their threatening demeanor, even asking if Mr. Cunningham could tell his son "hey" for her. This brought Cunningham to his sense, realizing what he was about to do. Scout's ability to see humanity in the inhuman nature of the men standing before her, a racist mob, caused Mr. Cunningham to retreat. Atticus, like Scout, saw humanity in the men, hence his comment referring to Mr. Cunningham's participation in a racist mob as a "blind spot." Atticus stood to protect a man from racists, serving as a peacemaker rather than taking one side or another. The men at the jail looked at people more as good or bad, but Atticus saw them  as imperfect beings, with a little of both in their nature. Not to mention, Atticus shows his position on the situation with peaceful, proactive choices, whereas the men make aggressive, reactive choices to display their views. Hope this helps!

Orlov [11]

Answer:

Children's advertisement is so easy  because they can influence other children. Yet that is where the ethical problems start. Kids aren't smart enough to know what they're selling to marketers. Advertisers already know that kids are going to exercise large numbers of Influence on their parents and in doing so can be relentless. When both children and parents are most insecure. They are insecure because  when they are exhausted and hungry in the grocery store, the child's fervent pleas often result in the parent purchasing those products. Children seem to want almost any marketed product because the distinction between what is true and what is pretended is often not understood by them. If an ad shows a toy doing an impressive feat, they assume that if they buy it, it will do that. Ads frequently contain false statements or exaggerated content. While these are preceded by a legislative note, they are usually overshadowed by the pomp and display of the commercials. Children advertising gets even worse it can cause all types of things for example obesity. Food firms spend almost $11 billion on TV ads annually, according to the Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity. In addition, a study conducted in Brazil found that 50 percent of children's advertisement is food related, and 80 percent of those are unhealthy foods high in sugar, fat, and salt. Advertisements present the wrong notion that it makes kids good or content to eat a particular drink or fast food. Under the influence of such ads, children tend to demand to buy more unhealthy foods, leading to obesity. Another reason I think that children's advertising is bad because it can give them negative feelings. I say negative feelings because children can be affected by these ads and tend to equate themselves with their peers or believe that they are either superior or inferior to the rest. Such actions may either decrease their trust in themselves or make them feel superior to others.

Summary of “one today” by Richard blanco
RSB [31]

Answer:

HEY MAYAK

Explanation:

This poem is called “One Today” by Richard Blanco. As I started to read this poem, I thought it was rather inspirational. He doesn't just speak about one group of people, he talks about everyone. He says “All of us as vital as the one light we move through”, which I translate as meaning that we all are living under the same sun, each contributing something to our world (16). Whether we “clean tables, read ledgers, or save lives” we are contributing to something greater (13). He appreciates all of the work people do when he says, “Thank the work of our hands: weaving steel into bridges, finishing one more report for the boss on time, stitching another wound or uniform, the first brush stroke on a portrait, or the last floor on the Freedom Tower jutting into the sky that yields to our resilience” (49-54). Most people just forget about those who build the schools we learn in, create the newsletters that we read, and fix the bridges we drive across, but not Blanco. He also ties the reader into his vision, as he states, “My face, your face, millions of faces in morning's mirrors, each one yawning to life, crescendoing into our day” (7). It makes the reader realize that we are one of many humans traversing through life in similar routines. I sense that he gives a sense of nationalism when he says “One ground. Our ground, rooting us to every stalk of corn” (27-28). Corn stalks are to the ground as citizens are to their country. The nationalism and patriotic feelings we share bring us together even more. On the contrary, the poem got very sad through the lines 21-26. He talks about children “marked absent today, and forever” in schools, which is a very sad topic nowadays, considering how many school shootings have happened in the last decade (21-22). He even talks about the feeling of grief about the death of these children by describing it as an “impossible vocabulary of sorrow” (20). It is such a sad topic, that there aren't even enough words to describe how the families feel. This dark section of the poem really brings the negative aspect of America. It may have started off by giving a good patriotic feeling, but then it hits you with the reality of life and how not everyone is working for the benefit of others. It's something that we can't just ignore.

I really enjoyed reading this poem. It was beautifully written with lots of descriptive words and figurative language to bring it to life. I like how this poem also reveals how America truly is, with both of its positive and negative characteristics. We are all just people with dreams to chase, jobs to do, and families to care for. We each do our part, no matter how small, in order to contribute to the society that we have created. Some people in our country do not follow that standard, and go out of their way to harm us and break our nation apart, and there is no way we can get rid of all of them, because they are apart of this country too. There will always be corruption somewhere in our world, and we just have to keep fighting to keep order.

Which sentences in this excerpt from "Quality" by John Galsworthy show that the writer admired the boots that the boot maker had
Jlenok [28]
"Besides, they were too beautiful—the pair of pumps, so inexpressibly slim, the patent leathers with cloth tops, making water come into one's mouth, the tall brown riding boots with marvellous sooty glow, as if, though new, they had been worn a hundred years. Those pairs could only have been made by one who saw before him the Soul of Boot—so truly were they prototypes incarnating the very spirit of all foot-gear."
"For to make boots—such boots as he made—seemed to me then, and still seems to me, mysterious and wonderful. "
Admire means to have great respect for or like. In the chosen sentences it is clear that the writer admired the boots. In the first quote, the writer uses the words "beautiful" and "marvellous". He describes the shoes as something the could make a person's mouth water which is the same as saying that they are delicious. His description of the boot maker as one who can see to the "Soul of the Boot" demonstrates his appreciation for the boots of the boot maker. All of these descriptions show how much the writer admires the shoes of the boot maker. In the second quote, the writer uses words such as "wonderful" and "mysterious". These adjectives further reveal the writer's admiration for the boot maker's skill.
