How is the modern era similar to the classical era

History

It's similar in the sense that the predominant type of social organization around the world is democracy. Many countries around the world are trying to implement democracy as a governmental model or already have done so. This was also found in the ancient Greek society. That is one way how it was similar to today. Another thing that is the same is that people still tend to spend their time in the same way hey did before in terms of talking to each other, hanging out, etc. Although this has changed a lot since the classic age.

Why was slavery common on southern plantations, and how did it affect laws in the southern colonies?
rosijanka [135]

Slavery was common for various reasons. One of them being climate when the british brought them to america they figured they were used to the heat and moisture. Another was the plantations required alot of attention. They didn't see the africans as equal so they let them sleep around the plantations in barley inhabital places. Another obvious reason is the fact that the southern colonies were on the coast of the Atlantic as was africa so it was a much easier to put the slaves there.
