How did the hellenistic era reflect and diverge from alexander's intentions for his empire ?
erik [133]

Answer:

Alexander wanted to integrate and keep the Greek hegemony over his empire. To do so, he intended to merge the Greek monarchy with the descendants of the Achaemenid empire, which he had conquered.

During the Hellenistic Period (323 BC-31 BC) which started with the Alexander´s death in 323 BC, Greece experienced its period of biggest expansion and prospperity. The Alexander´s vision of hegemony and expansion was according to the Hellenistic values. Nevertheless, his intentions to merge with other cultures specially from near Asia, had an impact over his countrymen who were worried about the "degeneration" of the Greek culture compared to the Classic Era

Which was an advantage for the South at the start of the Civil War?
ASHA 777 [7]

B. It had cotton it could sell to Europe.

Explanation:

One of the advantages that the South had over the North at the start of the Civil War was their ability to sell cotton to Europe.

Cotton was a very valuable item during this time. The South was providing a lot of it and Europe would buy it for a lot of money. Cotton, tobacco, indigo, and other cash crops were the Southern states' primary source of income.

The South did not have a better transportation system and they did not have an economy based industry. The North was industrialized and got its income from factories. The South was still based on agriculture, as they had better soil and a better climate to farm. This was why the South was adamant about keeping slavery, they needed the labor work to continue getting income.
