Question 1 Compare neap and spring tides. Give two comparisons in your answer. Question 2 Which of the following best describes

what causes the tides? The gravity of the moon and sun pushes and pulls the oceans. The gravity of the moon and the sun pulls the oceans towards themselves. The moon's gravity pulls on the oceans. The sun's gravity pushes on the oceans.

Spring tides:
New Moon and Full Moon
The sun, Earth, and Moon are all roughly in the same line.
The gravitational effects of the sun and moon work in the same direction,
bringing higher high tides and lower low tides.

Neap tides:
First Quarter and Third Quarter Moon
(a week after New Moon and a week after Full Moon)
The sun, Earth, and Moon form a right angle.
The gravitational effects of the sun and moon work across each other, bringing
high tides that aren't quite as high, and low tides that aren't quite as low.

There are a pair of gravitational forces trying to pull the Earth and Sun together,
and another pair of gravitational forces trying to pull the Earth and Moon together.
So the Earth's oceans are pulled toward both the Sun and the Moon.

Identify the figure shown and find its surface area. Explain how you found your answer.
photoshop1234 [79]
This is a triangle prism, the base is a square and the four sides are equal triangles.

To find the surface area you need to first find the areas of the triangles, then the square, in the end you have to add them together.

Since we know the area of a triangle is 1/2bh we know that one if the triangle in the figure is
9*16/2=72(in^2)
there are four of these so we multiply it by 4
4*72=288(in^2 aka squared inches)

Then we need to find the area of the square. side * side=9*9=81 (in^2)

Add them together we get the surface area.
288+81=369 (in^2)

Due by the end of the day please help, 15
points
liberstina [14]

We have an inscribed angle here. Angle YXZ is an inscribed angle.

Angle YXZ can also be expressed as simply angle x but I will use angle YXZ.

Angle YXZ = (1/2)(arc YZ)

Angle YXZ = (1/2)(144°)

Angle YXZ = 72°

Done!
