Answer:

-40

At -40, the value on both scales are the same.

-40 °C = -40 ° F

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that;

F = temperature in Fahrenheit

C = temperature in Celsius

And;

F=(9C+160)/5 .........1

For temperature to be the same on both scale;

Temperature in Fahrenheit mist be equal to the temperature in Celsius

F = C

Substituting F = C into the equation 1;

C = (9C +160)/5

Multiply both sides by 5

5C = (9C+160)

Collecting the like terms.

5C -9C = 160

-4C = 160

C = -160/4

C = -40

F = C = -40

At -40, the value on both scales are the same.

That means;

-40 °C = -40 ° F

Two trains start from the same place and move in opposite directions. One moves 33mph and the othermoves at 27mph. How long does
Pavlova-9 [17]

Answer:

8 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

Train A moves at speed v1=33mph

Train B moves at speed v2=27mph.

Let t be the time when they are 480mi apart.

d1=v1×t distance traveled by train A

d2=v2×t distance traveled by train B

d1+d2=480mi

v1×t+v2×t=480mi

(v1+v2)×t=480mi

(33+27)×t=480mi

60×t=480mi

t=480/60=48/6=8hours

A carpenter wants to make a ladder, but he want to calculate the required wood for it. The distance between each step is 1 foot
Natasha2012 [34]

Answer:

Part A

The required wood for the ladder is 98 feet

Part B

The cost of the wood is 49,000

Step-by-step explanation:

Part A

The dimensions of the ladder to be made with wood are;

The distance between each step of ladder = 1 foot

The length of the ladder = 25 feet

The width of the ladder = 2 feet

The required wood = 2 × 25 feet/rail + 2 feet/steps × 24 steps = 98 feet

The required wood for the ladder = 98 feet

Part B

The cost of the wood = 500/foot × 98 feet = 49,000

The cost of the wood = 49,000
