I will focus on two cities in the UAE- Dubai and Abu Dhabi

The rapid transformation that took place in Dubai and lately in Abu Dhabi should give rise for contribution of the ability of the cities to take care or both short term and long term developments.
Within the last 10 years the two cities have welcomed more visitors than the whole of Africa put together. The level of pollution, waste management, employment opportunities, population growth, energy consumption, sourcing of water and compliance with necessary regulations have put heavy pressure on these two developing cities.
The sustainable development goals of the cities are hinged on- zero poverty, good health,no hunger, quality education, gender equality, decent environment, affordable housing etc.
Both cities have positioned themselves as centers of tourism,business an education, such that there wont be short supply of rightful man power and individuals to drive the economy.
UAE is reviewing the residency and labour laws in an attempt to achieve demographic balance. Constant policy review on population will the cities from expreiencing population explosion and with its attended problems.
Going by developments and growths in the two cities, occassioned by system of government that encourages family succession, UAE is undaboubtably ready to sustain her growth to the next decade. However, this can only beachieved if she maintains progressive relationship with all her allies, especially United States and members of the gulf region.
