Virginia was a state where Slavery was legal, and it was even defended by their constitution, where negroes had little to no chance to become free, and had no chance to become normal citizens, they couldn´t gather publicly, nor held meetings, sense of community was also forbbiden and they couldn´t vote, in the legislation they included the clear division for servants and slaves, and how slaves were private property and as private property they had owners that could sell them or trade them.
