Paine is committed to his beliefs regarding the redundancy of the institution of monarchy and hereditary succession. He believed with all its flaws and imperfections; monarchy could not be constituted as the perfect form of administration. The institution of monarchy is riddled with its countless imperfections, and replete with sin. The claims of divine sovereignty are preposterous, as God’s will cannot be in accordance with such depravations of humanity. He also mentions that one family’s successors cannot have the power to rule over others, as all human beings are born in the same way and equally. So, the perfections of one monarch cannot be used to gloss over the imperfections his successors.

Further Explanation:

The arguments against continuation of monarchy as an ideal form of government has been essentially articulated by Thomas Paine, who believed in the equality of all humans born on earth and thereby seeks to understand the distinction between monarchs and their subjects, presumably the origins of this practice and the logic behind it. Incidentally, he finds the origins of kingship in Biblical texts, with the Jews initiating this practice to demarcate them from the unbelievers. Paine believes that kings do not rule by divine consent, as God is the supreme and only ruler of humanity. Since all men are born equal, the practice of one family ruling over the others is unjust and thereby, unacceptable as the virtues of one king cannot justify the vice of his successors. Thus, even if the monarch is divinely appointed to rule over humanity, he does not have the right to pass this right to his successors

Thomas Paine Think about British monarchy:

Thomas Paine on the craziness of a genetic government (1791) After having helped the American homesteaders shake off their hesitance to withdraw from the British Empire, Thomas Paine (1737-1809) directed his concentration toward the French Revolution which he energetically safeguarded against assaults by Edmund Burke.
