Huguenots would find a welcome and prosperous trade network along the lengths of the ________________ river.
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Huguenots would find a welcome and prosperous trade network along the lengths of the Rodano river.

The Huguenots were groups of Calvinist Protestants who lived in the area currently shared by France and Switzerland on the banks of the Rhone River, which was the main commercial route between southern and northern Europe. Both trade and ideas flowed rapidly in the reformist era.

In times of the Roman Empire, important civil works were made such as ports, canalizations, bridges, connections between different rivers, etc., to enhance the commercial deployment between the countries of the Mediterranean coasts, the Central European regions such as Switzerland, and those of northern Europe as Germany, the Netherlands and even England crossing the channel of the spot.

The Huguenots were persecuted in France by the State and the Catholic Church and many of them (some 200,000) emigrated to other European countries such as the Netherlands, England and Germany. They also emigrated to the British colonies of the United States as active promoters of American emancipation and pioneers in deploying liberal ideas in the United States. They founded some ephemeral colonies in Florida, but did not participate in the colonization of the Mississippi River because these territories were dominated by the official French power from which they had fled.

Given the atrocities of American slavery, how did enslaved people endure their oppression?
Y_Kistochka [10]

Answer:

In the early 19th century, most enslaved men and women worked on large agricultural plantations as house servants or field hands.

Life for enslaved men and women was brutal; they were subject to repression, harsh punishments, and strict racial policing.

Enslaved people adopted a variety of mechanisms to cope with the degrading realities of life on the plantation. They resisted slavery through everyday acts, while also occasionally plotting larger-scale revolts.

Enslaved men and women created their own unique religious culture in the US South, combining elements of Christianity and West African traditions and spiritual beliefs.

Why did European countries establish colonies in Africa during the 19th century?
Oksi-84 [34.3K]

Answer:

B. They wish to expand their economies.

Explanation:

In the 19th century, Africa became a patchwork of European colonies. Although colonies like Liberia and Sierra Leone were founded by American and British abolitionists as homelands for freed slaves, colonies were mainly set up to exploit the natural resources of the African continent. The primary reason for European colonization of Africa was capitalism. European nations saw opportunity for new trade routes and potential wealth in some of Africa's natural resources.
