The function y = -0.017x^2 + 0.55x models the height y, in feet, of your pet frog's jump, where x is the horizontal distance, in

feet, from the start of the jump. How far did the frog jump? How high did it go? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth. Be sure to show work / explain your reasoning.

Setting y = 0, and solving for x, 0 = -.017x^2 + 0.55x, x= 0 and 32.35 feet
The vertex is its highest vertical height.  Using the x coordinate of the vertex which is -b/2a, this is .55/(2*0.17 = 16.17 or 1/2 the horizontal distance, it maximum height is 4.45 feet = f(16.17)

Answer:

x=√14

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi there!

We are given a right triangle (notice the right angle), with acute angles measuring 45° and 45°, the hypotenuse (the side opposite from the right angle) labeled as x, and one of the legs (one of the sides that makes up the right angle) labeled as √7

As these two angles are the same measure, the triangle is isosceles.

So that means that the measure of the other leg (the unmarked side) is also √7.

This triangle is a special type of triangle; a 45°-45°-90° triangle. For this triangle, if the length of the legs are a, then the hypotenuse has the length  a√2

In this case, √7 is a, and as x is the measure of the hypotenuse, it must be equal to a√2, which substituting the values of a would get √7 * √2, which is √14.

The radical cannot be simplified further, so √14 is the answer.

Hope this helps!

Trying to figure out the domain and range of the graph
Sonja [21]

Answer:

Domain: (0, infinity)

Range: ( negative infinity, positive infinity)

Step-by-step explanation:

Domain is determined by the x values (left to right)

Range is determined by the y values (low to high)
