The whales are the predators of seals. If the death rate of whales is high then the population of seals will rise, especially if

their birth rate is faster. Therefore the carrying capacity of seals will be higher than whales. With no different except birth rate in seals it will not drastically effect the carrying capacity, whales will still have a higher capacity.

Evaluate the following scenario: Two days after visiting a pet shop and observing green parrots in a dis- play cage and fish in
vagabundo [1.1K]
In the scenario give above, the disease reservoir is the PARROT and the possible transmission method is INDIRECT CONTACT THROUGH AIR.
Disease reservoir refers to a source of a particular pathogen in an environment. A disease reservoir can be a person, an animal or an inanimate object like soil. In the case given above, the parrot is the disease reservoir and it passes the disease pathogen to the student. Pathogens are transmitted through four distinct ways, these are: direct contact, indirectly through the air, indirectly through contaminated object and through vectors. The disease pathogen was possibly passed to the student when the parrot was talking via tiny mucus droplets that escape from the bird's mouth.

What Happened to the Anchovy? - Part 2
Charra [1.4K]

Note about the question:

You will find the graph in the attached files.

Answer:

A) overfishing in previous years and warm waters with few nutrients

Explanation:

Under El Niño conditions, there is a tropical stream, which is usually weak, that acquires strength while the opposite streams debilitate. This event impedes warm water to go eastward, remaining in South America´s coasts, which produces unusual precipitations in Chile followed by floral bloom in Atacama desert and fewer precipitations events in Eastsouth Asia and North Australia. During and after the El Niño, occurs a fishery crisis because there is no upwelling on the coasts of South America, nutrients from the bottom do no ascend, and fish populations remain equal or decrease.

Around 1970, there was excessive overexploitation of fishes. This overfishing probably led to a significant decrease in the anchovy population size, reducing the number of individuals in the reproductive stage, especially the females. The graph reflects that during the following years, there were also peaks in anchovy catch. The population did not have enough time to recover from the highest peak in 1970.

From 1982-1983 El Niño event was severe. No upwelling meant no nutrients to survive, and that the remaining anchovy population, previously affected by fishery, hardly made it that year. There was probably a fishery crisis, and hence, no animals were caught in 1984.

In 3-5 sentences and in your own words, describe why a green banana will start to ripen and turn yellow much more quickly if a b
Ulleksa [173]

Answer:

Hormones communicate between plants and signal to ripen further the release of ethylene helps in this ripening as well.

Explanation:

 • When a green banana is placed closely to a brown banana it will ripen more quickly and would turn yellow because the brown banana releases a chemical called ethylene.
 • Ethylene is gaseous is nature and is thus, able to affect plants that lie close to it and this is the reason why ethylene is known as a fruit ripening hormone.
 • The amount of ethylene increases in fruits as the fruit further ripens and hence, when placed next to a brown banana the green banana will ripen more quickly and turn yellow.
