5. It should be A tidal wave and a tornado cause...

Hope that helps.

The option that contains the mistake is 5. A tidal wave and a tornado causes .

As the subject contains TWO noun phrases (1: a tidal wave, 2: a tornado) the verb should be in the present tense plural form without the third person singular suffix '-s'.

The sentence should be "A tidal wave and a tornado cause great damage, but tornado damage is usually more localized."

Can someone help me write a strong hook on this topic
ki77a [65]
Hey there!
Here's what I'm thinking. We need to grab the reader's attention.
"Have you ever had a headache after looking at electronics so long? Would you prefer reading instead? If you say yes, you're just like so many students across America who would rather have textbooks over tablets."
If I read that, I would totally read on, and that's the sole purpose of a hook.
Hopefully this helps!

ELA.8.0037_Passage Forests cover about 31% of the land on Earth, but, sadly, that number is decreasing at a rapid rate. Deforest
Wittaler [7]

Answer:

The author's key concept is that deforestation should be stopped. She/he expresses this by giving examples of deforestation, such as fire and trees being taken as fuel. She/he also states how 31% of the Earth is covered in forests, but this percentage is still rapidly decreasing. (there's your first three sentences. Hope this helps ^^)
