Repeating a sequence of words at the beginning of a phrase is called 'Anaphora' in rhetoric. It is used in speeches to give emphasis to the point being discussed. Thus, the speaker wanted to emphasize his point and encourage his listeners to do something as well.

Which statement best describes a recurring theme in this passage?
s344n2d4d5 [400]

Answer: C. Pride and effort go hand in hand.

Explanation:

Assuming this is based on the story, The Marfa Marlins by Jon Caswell, the above is the correct answer.

In the story it is shown that the coaches and the team members did not feel pride in being in the Marlins and this led to them putting in little to no effort with the coaches making jokes instead of coaching and the players showing up late for practice.

Paul Scoggins tried to change this and challenges the coach to a little competition which he wins with the penalty being that the coach would go bald. This action led the coach to feel pride in the team and try to put in the effort to win the district. This attitude influenced others into becoming proud as well and then putting in the effort.
