The Majority of the people in Tehran speak Persian but a significant number of other ethno-linguistic groups are also living in Tehran. The Qajar dynasty chose Tehran as its capital city in 1907, 6th October has been selected as Tehran day by the city council. Eight million people are living in Tehran and another fifteen million people in greater Tehran.
