(3x+8)+x>3x-12 can someone tell me how to solve it because already know the answer which is x>-20

  3x + x + 8 > 3x - 12
        4x + 8 > 3x - 12
      - 3x        - 3x
          x + 8 > -12
              - 8     - 8
                x > -20

Solution Set: (-∞, -20)
